The Anxious Photographer's Handbook

The Anxious Photographer's Handbook is a collection of photography projects specifically designed to help individuals who feel disconnected and isolated from the world due to anxiety. Through these projects, readers can embark on a journey of reconnection by creatively exploring different viewpoints, emotional connections, and finding meaning and inspiration in the everyday world. The book is pocket size so it can easily be picked up and carried around, and will be distributed to numerus places across Manchester, such as libraries, community hubs, and health centres, and will be free for anyone that would find it useful.

The Anxious Photographer's Handbook is the culmination of years of experience and dedication to helping individuals improve their mental wellbeing. By combining my passion for photography with my expertise in creative education, I have created a book that can be picked up and used by anyone, without any prior knowledge or experience in photography.

Jones says: "It's the physical and emotional process involved in doing the projects that's important, with the camera being the' mediator' that allows or provides the means in which connections to the world can be made through. This is not simply about capturing beautiful images, it is about using photography as a tool reconnect with the world."

This project has been made possible through the support and funding by Manchester Independents. Manchester Independents is a development scheme brought together by cultural organisations across Greater Manchester, as a joint commitment to support and connect independent talent in the region.
